Dirty Dozen Update..... 2010

It is best to shop organic and local whenever possible, but I understand that this is can be an expensive way to live. The dirty dozen is a list of foods that have the highest levels of known pesticides. The Environmental Working Group (www.ewg.org) creates this list. For those keeping up with the latest Dirty Dozen. Here it is.



1. Celery
2. Peaches
3. Strawberries
4. Apples
5. Blueberries
6. Nectarines
7. Bell Peppers
8. Spinach
9. Kale
10. Cherries
11. Potatoes
12. Grapes (Imported)

Here is a least from the other end of the spectrum..... the least dirty dozen or so. If you must, these have the least amount of pesticides.

1. Onions
2. Avocado
3. Sweet Corn
4. Pineapple

Mango
6. Sweet Peas
7. Asparagus
8. Kiwi
9. Cabbage
10. Eggplant
11. Cantaloupe
12. Watermelon
13. Grapefruit
14. Sweet Potato
15. Honeydew Melon

Mango Chutney

1 mango, diced
2 T brown rice vinegar
1T sugar
2 T raisins
2t ginger, grated
pinch allspice
1/2 t serrano chili, minced
1t salt


  1. Add all ingredients in a pan and bring to a simmer. Cook until syrup consistency is reached.
