Meet Sanctuary Bistro's Staff: Rachel (Berkeley, Ca)

I was born in Berkeley but raised in the hills of gold country, in a county known for frogs and rich history. In my spare time I'm usually reading a true crime novel, doodling, traveling, listening to music or cooking.I was drawn to work at Sanctuary Bistro because it is family run, ethically sound, and let's face it the food is really good. Working there allows me to partake in all of my favorite aspects of the food service industry; it is a positive space and the normal work related stress one experiences as a waitress goes out the window. My coworkers are superb; professional, friendly, genuine salt of the earth people. The customers are much the same, leading to many interesting conversations and a few tall tales (a good thing as I love larger than life stories) told to me every shift.

"I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy."-Rabindranath Tagore
