Peace Panther Vegan Clothing Line

Inspiration

For as far back as I can remember I was very curious about animals… all animals, and I loved them dearly. I also felt so much respect for them. There is something very special about being in the presence of a nonhuman animal that makes me feel so grateful to be here on Earth at the same time as them. I questioned using and eating animals my whole life, but in 2007 I learned about the horrors of Animal Agriculture Industry and that’s when I stopped eating animals. Then a few years later I learned about the pain, torture and suffering of cows, calves, hens and baby chicks in the dairy and egg production facilities, which made me stop eating all animal secretions and products. My husband and I have been living a vegan lifestyle ever since and our only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner. I love organic, fair trade and trendy vegan clothes. I also love spreading the message of animal rights, because I know that most people care and would never choose to participate in animal abuse once they become informed. And that’s what inspired me to create Peace Panther, Vegan Clothing with Roars of Kindness.

About Peace Panther

Peace Panther offers tasteful and fashionable vegan clothing. I use organic fabric that feel amazing on the skin, and I use non toxic dyes and prints . If the garments can not be produced under the fair-trade laws and requirements, then they will be made here in the US. Most pieces have a beautiful illustration or vegan art printed either on the front or on the back.

I don’t have a physical store right now and mostly sell online at www.PeacePanther.com but I am always interested in working with compatible stores that would like to carry Peace Panther clothing line. 15% to 20% of all proceeds go towards helping animal sanctuaries, rescue and animal advocacy organizations.
This is only phase one of my business as I have many plans and a lot is in the works.

Mission

My mission in life is to be a strong voice for the animals and to make sure that their voices are heard. Most say that animals don’t have a voice but I believe that they do, they just speak a different language. Animal agriculture silences the animals voices and we don’t get to see what’s being done to them nor do we hear their screams and pleas for help.

Peace Panther’s garments are designed so that animal lovers get to love what they are wearing while creating interest in veganism and animal rights in a very kind and loving way.

Anecdotes

I have been hearing from my customers and the great conversations they have gotten into with friends as well as strangers about animals and vegan foods.

One time I was waiting to pay in a grocery store behind a lady in front of me who had a cooked body of a chicken amongst other items that she was buying. As she was waiting, she turned and noticed the artwork on my top which happened to be an illustration of a family of chickens and text that says “Their Lives. Their Right”. She asked are you vegan? I said yes with a smile. She said, a friend of mine is also vegan and I admire your love for the animals. I said, do you also love animals too? She said, oh I’ve been an animal lover my whole life but I’m too busy to go vegan. I don’t eat beef anymore but I still eat chicken and fish. I said that’s great that you have made some changes, but it really is easy to go all the way. It starts with one decision to end animal suffering. She said, you know what? you are right. She then gave the chicken to the cashier and said, please put this back, I changed my mind! Not all conversations end this way. Obviously she had been thinking about it for a while, but it was that extra push and perhaps meeting someone else who is also vegan that gave her courage to move forward with her decision. If I wasn’t wearing my lovely Peace Panther top, that conversation may have never happened.

Upcoming events

I will have a booth at the Sonoma Veg Fest on August 20th, 2016, and most likely at the San Francisco Veg Fest as well as Los Angeles (So Cal) Veg Fest.

I would also do trunk shows at boutiques and social gatherings, but I don’t have any confirmed yet. The best way to find out about my upcoming events is by visiting my website at www.PeacePanther.com and signing up for email updates.

Community and Compassion

Being in a community and a safe space especially for women is very important to me. I have been an organizer for different women circles for many years. My goal has been to create a very supportive and nonjudgmental space for all women to meet, reconnect, recharge, feel supported and inspired. In our previous events we have done meditation, yoga, presentations, nature walks and healing sessions.

What could we each do to live a more compassionate lifestyle?

Learning about and practicing real mindfulness, and really paying attention to how our thoughts, energy, words, and actions affect the world around us, and not just us. Every little action can either help someone (human or nonhuman animal), or harm them. Also remembering that what we put out in the universe will eventually come back to us ten fold. We may feel overwhelmed by everything that’s going and feel disempowered at times, but we each can make a world of difference for someone. That someone can be a human, a dog, a cat, a cow, a bunny, or an ant. We shouldn’t let speciesism get in our way of respecting and connecting with our fellow Earthlings and living a truly compassionate lifestyle.

Interesting facts

Human skin is largest organ of absorption and elimination. What we wear and put on our skin goes in our body. This is why it is important to avoid clothing that’s made with toxic or non-organic fabrics. Toxins aren’t just harmful to our bodies, but to the environment and to all the sea and land animals.

Fair-Trade means that all those who participate in the making for your clothes were paid a fair wage, meaning no sweatshops, no child labor, no slavery, and no environmental destruction. Unless a garment is made here in the US, you want to make sure that it is fair-trade.
