"Play-out"

Eating a nutritious diet is a good start to a healthy way of life. Living longer with fewer health problems is a goal for most and eating well is just one step towards that goal. Exercise is a large component to getting to and maintaining a lean, strong body. This can be a big obstacle though. The road can seem bumpy and long, but the results are well worth it. I know that getting an exercise program started can be hard. For me, it isn't fun, or at least at the beginning, but once I start to see results and meet some personal goals, it gets a lot easier. Here are a few suggestions to help get started down that exercise road.

  1. Set some goals. Setting some reasonable, obtainable goals within a specific time period. Goals are a good way to help motivation and encouragement, once they are met.
  2. Start slow. There is no reason to hurt yourself by starting to quickly. This will not help you stay on track.
  3. Find a partner. It is much easier to stay motivated and much more fun with a partner.
  4. Try something new. There a endless ways to workout. Running, biking and lifting weights are not the only forms of exercise. Try yoga, Tai Chi or pilates.
  5. Keep a journal. Write down your routines and your accomplishments. This is a great way to look back and see all your progress.
  6. Make it a daily routine. For some, it is easier in the morning and others in the evening, either way, if you make it part of your daily routine, you will be more apt to follow through.

Good luck and most importantly, have fun. Maybe call it "Play-out", because sometimes work isn't fun at all. Also, a gym membership is not required to get some exercise.

Enjoy.
