Trusting in Our Bodies to Heal Themselves
Guest Blog: Natascha, Wellness advocate for Doterra Essential Oils
Inspiration
I was always interested in natural remedies and energy work for physical and emotional issues as well as for personal development. When I had my first child 10 years ago, it was very clear for me, that I wanted to raise my kids using natural solutions, staying away from Western medicine and mainstream body care products. I even washed my kids hair with Ghassoul Clay, because I didnt want them to get in touch with all the chemicals that are in shampoos. My family had just settled in the US after moving here from Europe. With kids in school, I needed a flexible part time job, that allowed longer vacations each summer to see our families back in Austria. I was torn between whether I wanted to pursue a career in business/marketing (which I have a degree in) or if I should go in the healing direction, helping people to better health physically and emotionally. When I got introduced oils, they intrigued me right away, so I got my first kit and started to use them with my family right away and saw great results. It was clear, that they would be a great addition to all the other natural remedies we had in our toolbox, like homeopathy, flower remedies, homemade cough syrup, etc. This was perfect business opportunity for me a great combination of business and healing, I decided to go ahead and work with Doterra. My family felt the benefits and I want others to have this peace of mind and feeling of safety too. For me, this is a trust versus fear approach to life by trusting in the ability of our bodies to heal themselves, and trust in the gifts of mother earth to support us with this healing.
Wellness Advocate
I am a Wellness Advocate with Doterra (meaning Gift of the Earth), which is an essential oil company based in Utah. Doterra offers fantastic products the purest essential oils, but also other great products, like high quality whole food supplements, non-toxic body care products and cleaners etc. What I love most about the company is that they are doing so much good in this world. Doterra is sourcing their oils worldwide, and they have a very close relationship with their farmers and suppliers. (They call this Co-Impact Sourcing.) Many of the oils are sourced from third world countries, and Doterra makes sure, that people who are actually doing the work are getting a fair price for their products, have a stable source of income (if the quality is right) and are therefore able to provide for their families and send their kids to school. Doterra also cooperates with organizations like Mentors International and Days for Girls, and their Healing Hands Foundation enables them to help people in less fortunate communities and make their lives better. They are for example building schools, health centers, temporary and later permanent homes for people in Nepal after the earthquake, water pipes etc. This company is really outstanding in what they do in this world, and I am very grateful to be a part of that. Please check out this video about Doterras Co-Impact Sourcing: . I am always moved to tears when listening to all the Co-Impact Sourcing and Healing Hands stories, and seeing how it changes peoples lives. As a Wellness Advocate, I educate people about the natural solutions Doterra has to offer. We have this option of taking care of our own and our familys health with natural remedies, and there are still so many people out there who dont know about those wonderful resources. There is so much the oils can do to support our health, physically as well as emotionally, and they dont have the side effects we know from pharmaceuticals. I like how the oils are working with our bodies, getting to the root of issues, instead of just covering up symptoms.I also like to see how people, especially moms with small kids, are feeling very empowered, when they realize that there is so much they can do themselves for their families with the help of the oils. It feels so great to have this toolbox at our hands, so we dont need to rely on outside help for every little issue we might face.Mission
Making the world a better place, one drop, one person, one community at a time.
Those are statements that I can totally relate to. My mission and I mentioned this before - is to let people know, that there are plenty of natural solutions for different issues they might be dealing with. It is inspiring to be a part of shifting peoples way of thinking when it comes to their health. So many people still think, that they have no or not much influence over their health, when in fact (I think there is a lot of research going on about that nowadays) our genes and DNA are only a small part of the picture, and about 70% is totally up to us. Neurosurgeon Dr. Joseph Maroon says: Although our genes directly control approximately 30% of the diseases we eventually will acquire, 70% of these conditions can be prevented or remarkably delayed by direct choices we make in our nutrition, activity level, environmental factors and emotional health. So actually A LOT of how we are feeling physically lies in our own hands! I think thats great news, isnt it?A personal accomplishment is, that my kids (now age 10 and 8) so far never had to take antibiotics or other pharmaceuticals. The only exposure to some substances was, when my son broke his wrist several years ago, and the doctors had to put him down for 15 minutes to put the bones back together. Needless to say, we were very grateful to have access to our medical system back then! Its great to have all those wonderful doctors in case of emergencies, but I just think that many people nowadays are too easily ready to rely on our medical system for just about anything, and to take different forms of medication for even minor issues, where it could easily be avoided not being aware of the side effects and long-term consequences for their bodies.
Anecdotes
A friend and I gave each other Reiki and put different oils on acupressure points. Starting with Bergamot Oil on her Shen Men point (which is on the ear), her body had a very strong reaction , it felt like spirals of energy coming out of my fingertips hard to describe, but very powerful. There are a whole lot of stories that also amaze me, e.g. when children with speech delays kids are suddenly starting to speak, or restless kids are behaving totally different with the help of the oils.My own kids love to have some oils applied to their backs at bedtime on a daily basis they really enjoy this little ritual, its special time for both of us, gives us a chance to connect and talk about the day, and I feel good knowing that the oils support their immune systems. Also, kids are very good with knowing what they need, and it is great to see them growing up using the oils or other remedies very naturally.

Compassion and Community
I think community and the connection with other people is probably one of the most important things in our life. There is a story of the people of Roseto, a village of Italian immigrants in Pennsylvania, who died a lot less often from heart disease than people in identical towns elsewhere. Researchers found out, that this was due to their family ties and community relationships. Read more . No one was alone in Roseto. Rosetans were nourished by people. Too many of us are living lives isolated and separated, which might be connected with depression, anxiety, hopelessness and lack of purpose in life.As a mom of two, I feel quite often frustrated, having to juggle a lot with work, kids, house, volunteering jobs etc. I realized this summer, while visiting my family and friends back in Austria that I miss the support of those who are close to me. It makes such a difference to have somebody to talk to and to share what we are experiencing and see that we are not the only ones out there experiencing those things. Parenting can be tough sometimes. Having a good laugh with friends or family about annoying things that happened makes it much more bearable and helps me to let go of some of this frustration that I sometimes feel.In German language we have the saying, Geteiltes Leid ist halbes Leid, geteilte Freude ist doppelte Freude, meaning something like a problem shared is a problem halved, joy shared is joy doubled, - I think this reflects quite well how important it is for human beings to have social relationships.
Tips for Living a More Compassionate Life
I think just being more conscious about ourselves, the people around us and the world helps a big deal in being more compassionate. Awareness and empathy are key. Slowing down and pausing, breathing deeply and just being in the moment. We are way too busy nowadays, quite often not making enough room for our partners and kids, as we just struggle to get through the day, doing chores, homework, making dinner etc. Living a more compassionate lifestyle begins with ourselves self-care and personal development are in my opinion very important - and in our own families. We cant be compassionate towards others if we are not compassionate to ourselves.Practicing gratitude on a daily basis and counting our blessings helps tremendously to live a more conscious and compassionate life. And of course having your Heart Wall released by an Emotion Code Practitioner also helps. (more info about that below)
Tips
Integrating the oils into our daily lives definitely helps us to stay healthy and therefore out of doctors offices. One way to integrate the oils is to put them in your drinking water or to cook with them. I personally love Lemon or Wild Orange oil in my water, and I am drinking a big glass of warm water with my oils every day first thing in the morning it tastes amazing and has a lot of anti-oxidants as well as cleansing properties. If I dont have fresh limes and cilantro at hand, I use Lime and Cilantro oil in my guacamole. Sometimes I make my own hummus with a drop of Rosemary essential oil. The citrus oils also taste great in smoothies, and the Lemongrass is great in Asian influenced cooking. The oils are also great to keep a non-toxic environment at home. I make my own hand soap, use the oils for cleaning and wiping surfaces, and even make my own hand sanitizer. Having a diffuser helps keep the air clean as well as uplifts our mood, helps us focus on certain tasks etc. If you want to get some ideas of how to cook with the oils, or find some do it yourself recipes or you can go to .
