Valentine's Day Chocolates and Cards
Well another Valentine's day came and went, thank god! To me Valentine's day is just another holiday for corporate America to embark on yet another day to sell chocolates and cards and more crap like that. On the side of the roads here in the East Bay I saw many selling the "last minute" gift baskets for $20, 30 and 40. Ridiculous. If you are so in love with your partner, I do not think a useless fuzzy bear holding a heart and a box of chocolates one day a year will cut it. Especially if you forgot anyway and come home with one of these prefab baskets. How thoughtful?!
I like to show my wife the attention and love she deserves at least a few days out of the week. Lol. And giving her chocolates doesn't count. She usually expects that anyway. What she likes to be held close, a light stroke of the hair and a little conversation. None of which effects the environment or any cute furry creatures.
Now if you choose to go with the chocolate and card routine, as most of us did and do, let me make a few suggestions.
- Make your own card. Man, this one really works. It is thoughtful, caring and original. 20,000 other people won't be standing in line at the store with the same lame card.
- Make your own chocolates. They are easy and really cost much less then buying a cute expensive decorated box.
- Get dark chocolate! It is the only vegan choice.
There are some exceptional chocolate companies out there to check out for your next holiday. And remember chocolate is good for any and all occasions.
Enjoy.
