DAY 1: Vegan, GF Decadent December

Living in a multicultural house that celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas.... Food is central to the holidays.  We are excited to create an advent calendar of recipes.  These recipes are all vegan and gluten free... but they are for holiday parties.  Being vegan and gluten free does not denote health.  These are veganized decadent recipes to be shared at all of your holiday parties.



Day 1: 
Purely Decadent Spinach Dip

10oz Spinach

1 small red bell pepper

1 tsp olive oil

1tsp granulated garlic

12 oz vegan sour cream

3/4 cup vegan Mayo

8oz water chestnuts

1T stone ground Dijon mustard

1/4 cup nutritional yeast

Salt to taste


1. Rub olive oil onto the Red Bell Pepper.  Place into the oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.  Turn half way through. Cut off the stem and remove seeds and place in food processor.

2. Place Spinach into a large Sauce pan with a 1/2 cup of vegetable broth (or water).  Saute until bright green.  Add to food processor. 

3.  Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor.  Blend until smooth.  

4.  Serve with Potato chips, tortilla chips or Crudites (cut vegetables)
