Take me out to the ball game!

Baseball season is once again upon us. If you are fortunate enough to live close to a Major League baseball team, like me, you should want to visit soon. There is nothing like the smell and sounds of a ballpark. The atmosphere is electric with friends and families rooting for their teams, all while eating loads of food.

Generally the options for a vegetarian are very limited at baseball games. Although some ballparks have begun to offer veggie burgers, hot dogs and portobello sandwiches. Ballparks more and more are catering healthier options, but who wants healthy options at a ball game anyway? I like to pick up a lemonade, garlic fries and vegan dog. But I also bring some snacks into the game, as well, as the food at the game can get really expensive fast.

So here what I do. (depending on the stadium)

  1. I bring my own water and maybe a soda. Then I usually will buy a lemonade and share with my wife.
  2. Peanuts! or pistachios and sunflower seeds. I will bring my own. It is near impossible to go to a baseball game and not throw shells on the ground.
  3. I like to pack some sweet treats, chocolate, skittles or cookies.
  4. Pack a blanket. Especially for night games, as it is still early in the season and it can get cool quick.
That is the basics for enjoying a baseball game this summer. And remember to check out the concessions for the newest veggie option!

Enjoy.
